Remedial massage therapy is targeted manipulation technique in restoring function, relieving pain and decreasing muscle tension or spasms. It stimulates circulation and local blood flow, which can promote healing and improve physical or athletic performance, as well as many mental health benefits.
Remedial massage is different to other forms of gentle relaxation or deep tissue massage. A remedial massage therapist undergoes extensive training to gain advanced knowledge of anatomy and physiology. It is used for the prevention and management of injuries, particularly soft tissue injuries. Therapists are trained to assess your body, observe changes over time and design individual treatment plans for each client. Specific techniques are used to address your injury, postural or joint issues.
Remedial massage can:
Deep tissue massage will work out the abnormal muscle contractions from stressed, overworked muscles and connective tissue (fascia) to alleviate immediate pain, as well as chronic joint and muscle pain. It also promotes faster healing by increasing blood flow and reducing inflammation.
Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used to treat muscular pain and dysfunction. It is used in specific areas of muscle tissue to stimulate underlying myofascial trigger points, causing them to release and alleviate pain. The benefits of dry needling include immediate relief from muscle tension and pain, improved range of motion, and enhanced flexibility.
We offer pre and post game specific massages. Helping you get 'game day ready' by warming up, increasing blood flow and waking up your muscles. Our post game specific treatment will kickstart your body's healing process and improve your recovery so you are ready to compete sooner.
Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue therapy that involves the application of decompressed cups on the skin, creating a vacuum effect that lifts up underlying tissues such as the fascia ( connective tissue ) and muscles, blood and other fluid, close to the surface of the skin. Benefits include: Relieves Soreness and Pain from Deep Muscle Tension, Improves Range of Motion in Joints, Increases Circulation and Improves Lymph Flow.
Our biggest belief here at My Physical Rehab is that the body should be treated as whole. This means that the location of your pain may not mean that it is the site of injury. We often find that an injury/imbalance somewhere else in the body is contributing to your pain.
This is why in every appointment with us, you will be taken through a postural and range of motion assessment both before AND after your treatment. This process allows us to assess your movement and get to the root of the cause. Assessing these measures after your massage will enable us to see how effective our treatment was or if we need to reassess and create a new treatment plan for your needs.
In order for you to reap the most benefits from your treatments, your appointment may include some small strengthening and stretching exercises dependent on your specific needs.
